Arthurs Day in Ireland

There's never been a gig like this before. On September 24th, some of the biggest names in music will perform live in the heart of the St. James's Gate Brewery. Iconic bands and artists celebrating Arthur's Day in the home of GUINNESS®.At exactly 17:59 we'll raise a glass to the life and legacy of Arthur Guinness.
Its just about that time and I was going to head out to work but every illegal taxi driver is going to be out and I just couldnt be bothered to go out.
Heres to a relaxing night in.

My day in Belfast

Well the time came to get the timing belt done.
I'm sitting In Charles hurst Peugeot in Belfast having a cup of tea and reading a magazine while the car gets a quick wash before my trip home.
Timing belt is sorted for another 60k and serviced for another 15k. Pleased to report the engine light was only a sporadic air fault so nothing to be fixed thank god.

I'm well impressed with the service I've received up here which included free courtesy buses into and out of the city to kill a bit of time and I've still saved 250 euro.
The garage itself is part of a group called Charles hurst who has ferraris, hummers, maseratis and bentleys to name a few. (wouldn't mind a taxi plate on one of those). Maybe I'll win the English lotto tomorrow night who knows.

Other than a 1.5 hour drive home I'm happy I saved a few bob and glad to hear from cab drivers up here that business is shit to. I know that's mean.

Home to my Mrs now. Bye guys.

Stranger

God I have not posted in ages. I suppose it's a good thing that I've been kept busy during these times. (mr bank manager must be very proud of me for trying harder aswell as ms Kathleen Doyle).

Mad experience this morning outside fibber mcgees.
I witnessed a young couple having an argument the girl went to punch the guy and he shoved her hard against one of those roller shutters on a shop front.
I felt I should have got out but this job has lead me to expect these things to happen on a night out in Dublin.
The strange thing was she got up and held his hand. Nuts!!!! Y do women accept this shite.

So last week I decided it was time for my baby (Peugeot 407) to get herself booked in for a new timing belt. 100,000 km in 2 years. Ouch!

So I rang the local dealer known as mongey plunkett and they wanted €650 to install the belt kit.
I chanced my arm and rang a crowd up in Belfast named Charles hurst and thy quoted me the full timing belt kit, full service, health check and full diagnostics report for €500.

Just shows how much were getting robbed. So Belfast here I come.

No wonder were still in recession.

This country is a joke!!!!

Till another day waiting on the rank in our so called financial centre.

Love it

Don't you just love the last call of the day when things have been quiet, sone tourists knock on your window asking to be brought around a few landmarks so they can take some photos. Then onto there hotel and continue onto the airport. Especially when you only live 10 mins from the airport.

As I write this they are in trinity college Dublin taking photos.

Update

Well the past week has not been to bad for me so I took the weekend off work to get sone things done around the house. But alas I got a bad puncture on saturday and I have to fork out €70 for a new tyre today. Ah I suppose at least it's not as bad as the Indian restaurant in clontarf which went on fire at 4 am this morning.

In writing this while waiting on a customer going from ranelagh to Dublin airport so that's a decent enough call.

I've a feeling it's going to be a long day ahead.

It's going to be hard getting back into the system of work but we will see how things ho.

Update

Hi guys. have not been on in a while. I have actually been kept busy they past few weeks due to the lovely Irish weather haha.

No real news to update as such. Still ticking along.

Working to pay the Mortgage and keep ahead with the recession.

3 weeks ago a lunatic lad opened his car door into the side of my new Peugeot 407. Took of my mirror and damage to the paint work but thank god the insurance company went my way. I sometimes agree with people saying why drive a new car. I think ive damage on every panel at this stage.

One thing I have not gotten to like about the game (Taxi driving) Is how lonely and quiet it can be.

I dont find many people my age in the business I could stop and chat with on a quiet night or anything.
I dont know many people in the business but hope that will change soon enough.

Im sick of watching dvds all morning in the car.
